Back to School...finally!

The Sakuma Boyz came to visit us in Seattle during the Labor Day weekend. It's been only 7 months since we all met, but at this age, kids grow like weeds and they all have grown. It was nice to see Luke for the first time as well.

Labor Day = Picnic. Unlike Hawaii, it was cold. Notice all the jackets and sweaters. Onigiri-saikou.
And finally, back to school for veteran 2nd grader, Karen. This will be Maya's first time riding the school bus to kindergarten. She was so excited that she woke up at 6AM and slept 2 hours after coming home from school. Maya often slept in till 10 AM during the summer...partially parents fault.

Final days of Summer

Summer = Popsicles + Sunglasses + Picnics.

This summer was exceptionally hot for Seattle. It seems like we were always stocking the freezer with popsicles this summer. Of course the neighborhood kids knew about that as well.
This was the annual Okinawa Kenjin Club picnic. Maya is doing the donut eating contest. Those silly Japanese games....

Welcome back Obachan

Well, grandma came back from Hawaii, and she looked a little ragged. I wonder why.....
Seavey blog

Our precious summer in Seattle is almost over. A few more pictures in their summer dresses before they go back in the closet for next year.
What's with little girls and shoes.....

Hisashiburi Update

It's been a while since we updated our blog. I don't know how you do it Yumi but we appreciate your updates and pictures. Thanks to you we know how Luke is doing.

It's been exciting to see all the new babies joining the Sakuma clan.

By the way, Kaori started using a new scrapbooking software and here are the creations below.

What do you think Yumi?

Summer = waterpark. Well it was more like spray park and Klair was the only one getting wet.

Our first game to see Ichiro on Japan night at Safeco Field. The mariners are terrible this year, but we won this game.

Neigborhood kids. Can't wait for school to begin...it seems like our house is the neighborhood hangout.

Summer time pick'ns

School is out for the kids and Kaori is trying to preoccupy their summer with some productive activities. Strawberry picking was a little late than usual for Seattle, but the harvest was
plentiful. Of course its all you can eat at the farm and Klair's little basket was always empty.

On the second day, Klair figured out an easier way to get the strawberries from the magic brown box.

Our little ballerina also had her first ballet recital. Since flash photography was prohibited, no proof of her excellent piroutte, pique, saute, arabesque, carpaccio, fondue, and fois gras.....

By the way, congratulations Atau and Kiyomi on your new son, LUKE, and Happy Birthday to Kela....BIG 4 years old.....wohoo.

Its beginning to look a lot like summer

It seems that the June Gloom wheather is finally past and looking forward to a wonderful 3 months of beautiful Seattle weather. It was just a couple weeks ago that the Seattle Times was saying Seattle was the colder than Alaska and Siberia!! http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004470662_webweather11m.html
Go figure.

It was nice to have the kids get a little Vitamin D on the trampoline today.
Now, if only we had a beach near by.......

Southern California Vacation

Well it's been 3 months and we have not been doing a good job of letting the Ohana clan know what we have been doing. We just returned from our trip to Disneyland and the girlz had a lot of fun. Fortunately, Maya was exactly 42 inches high (w/shoes) so she was able to enjoy many of the roller coaster rides (Thunder Mountain & Space Mountain) with Mom & Karen.

On our 4 day trip, we went to California adventure and Sea World, too.

Along the way, we had to stop by and check out this pretty white building off of I-5.
